Above the Peaks: A Winter Escape to the Dolomites
There’s something surreal about flying over the Dolomites with a drone while the snow below sparkles like crushed diamonds. This winter, I found myself skiing across one of Europe’s most breathtaking alpine playgrounds — the Dolomiti Superski region. Between carving down perfect slopes and capturing aerial shots that felt like scenes from a winter fairytale, it was an experience worth sharing. Passo San Pellegrino and Falcade quickly became favorites. These resorts are lesser-known than some of the heavyweight names in the Alps, but that’s exactly their charm — no endless lift queues, wide-open runs, and panoramic views that stop you mid-descent. The snow was consistent, the food at the mountain huts was next-level (hello, polenta and speck), and the vibe was relaxed but authentic. Then there’s the Sellaronda — an epic ski circuit that loops around the Sella massif, connecting world-class resorts like Val Gardena, Arabba, and Alta Badia. Driving it is beautiful; skiing it is better. It’s the kind of route that makes you forget time exists — just you, your skis, and the jaw-dropping beauty of alpine Italy. If you're into skiing, snowboarding, or just alpine exploration — put the Dolomites on your radar. Whether you're flying a drone or flying down a black run, the views will stay with you long after the snow melts.
